Earlier Golden Retrievers were used primarily in hunting. These intelligent animals soon gained popularity and became valued family companions, hunting companions, and show dogs.
Golden Retrievers are famous for their beauty. They are a dog with a kindly expression, pretty, dark eyes, and a wagging tail. This gentle, kind, loving, loyal, happy, confident and outgoing animal is one of the most intelligent dogs that fit into many family settings.
The dogs are neither lazy nor hyperactive; they excel at obedience. These very people oriented dogs that strive to please their owners. At first, the breed was classified as the Retriever (Golden and Yellow) in 1920. Later this name was changed to Golden Retriever.
The dogs have retained sporting characteristics; they are extremely trainable and well mannered. The dogs have excelled in obedience and have an outstanding record as guide dogs for the blind. The Golden Retriever was first registered in Canada in 1927.
Golden Retrievers Photos - Temperament
These are friendly, reliable, and trustworthy dogs that are good with other animals and dogs. The Retrievers are not likely to be quarrelsome or hostile towards other dogs and people in normal situations. The dogs are not timid or nervous either. Golden Retrievers that are aggressive typically are disqualified.
